Today, the CD is 25 years old. Is the CD still relevant? I have to think so. The sound quality is better than what can be crammed into an MP3 file. However, there is an untethered quality of today’s music portability.
Alex Ross has it about right though: “all recordings are fakes, and CDs happen to be more convincing fakes than MP3s.”
